Fermín Aldeguer will join the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP seasons, according to an announcement published by MotoGP.com on August 26. The move also makes the Spanish rider an official Ducati Corse rider with a factory Ducati Desmosedici GP.
The deal arrives as MotoGP prepares to introduce a new technical era in 2027. Aldeguer will leave BK8 Gresini Racing after establishing himself as one of the class’s younger names to watch.
A Rapid Rise Through MotoGP
Aldeguer won MotoGP’s Rookie of the Year award in 2025, a season that included three podiums and his first premier-class victory in Indonesia. He became the second-youngest rider to win a MotoGP race, then followed that campaign with a move into his second year of the championship.
His 2026 season has been interrupted by three missed races because of injury. MotoGP’s report lists him eleventh in the standings, with one podium at Barcelona.
Why the Factory Ducati Matters
The factory Desmosedici gives Aldeguer a direct place inside Ducati’s technical program rather than a satellite-bike role. VR46 team director Alessio Salucci said the squad expects to support his development while working with Ducati engineers.
Aldeguer said the 2027 priority will be adapting to new tires and a new motorcycle, with consistency and information gathering as the main targets. That makes this more than a rider-market announcement because the partnership places a developing rider inside a major rules reset.
The agreement also gives VR46 a young rider with proven race-winning speed and two seasons to grow with the new package. Ducati’s recent investment in its racing and technical programs gives the arrangement added context for readers following the company’s broader competition strategy, including its recent R&D investment plans.
