Damon Charts a Bold Path Forward for Electric motorcycles

Damon Motorcycles

Damon, the innovator behind groundbreaking electric motorcycles, is tackling the future head-on, as shared in a recent letter from CEO Jay Giraud. While challenges have been plentiful, the vision for safer, smarter motorcycling remains steadfast.

I’ve talked to Jay before, and it sounds like Damon has a bold, but doable mission in mind. They have some of the best minds in the business, and this latest press release lays out what the future of the business could look like.

The Progress So Far

Damon’s milestones are impressive: over 3,000 refundable reservations equating to $100 million in potential revenue, 16 patents secured, and its cutting-edge HyperDrive™ powertrain nearly production-ready. Core systems, including vehicle mechanics and electronics, are 90% complete, and battery development is making steady strides. Yet, securing sufficient funding remains a hurdle to crossing the finish line.

A Roadmap to Production

If all goes as planned, late-stage engineering will wrap in 2025, followed by rigorous pre-production testing. Damon aims to launch full-scale manufacturing at its San Rafael, California, headquarters by 2026. Success hinges on capital infusion and meticulous regulatory approvals.

Navigating Stormy Waters

Funding woes, market volatility, and inflation have slowed progress, but Damon’s adaptability has kept it afloat. Transitioning to public markets via a merger with Grafiti Holdings marks a strategic pivot to secure necessary resources.

A Vision for the Future

Damon’s electric motorcycles promise more than performance—they represent a paradigm shift. Backed by world-class partners like NXP Semiconductor and Molicel, Damon’s commitment to revolutionizing motorcycling is undeniable.

For enthusiasts and investors alike, Damon isn’t just building motorcycles; it’s forging a new era. As Giraud put it, “The dream of reinventing motorcycling is far from over.”
