1-Person Motorcycle Tents for Biker Camping Road Trips

1-person motorcycle tent

Are you planning a motorcycle road trip? If so, you’ll need the right gear, and that means a tent. If you’re traveling alone, you need a 1-person tent. Finding the right tent can be tough, but you need to make sure to get something that will work for motorcyclists.

While many riders prefer to travel with others, I’ve always enjoyed a solo road trip, and on those road trips, I don’t want to carry a big three person tent with me. When I’m going on a solo road trip, I grab a 1-person tent and and head on my way. Here’s what you need to know about 1-person tents and a couple of options.

What to Look for in a 1-Person Motorcycle Tent

1-person tent

When looking for any tent you’re going to take with you on a motorcycle road trip, you need to think about weight and the bulkiness of the tent when it is packed away.

You also need to make sure you have room for your gear and yourself. Luckily many 1-person motorcycle tents have this and still pack down to a small size.

Keep in mind these tents are going to be small, but there are a few things you should look for. Here are some things every 1-person motorcycle tent needs to have:

  • Rain cover
  • Venting for airflow
  • Quick and easy set-up
  • Room for your gear
  • Under 5 pound weight

If the tent weighs much more than 5 pounds or it lacks any of the features shown above, I’d avoid it. You’d be better off buying one of the options listed below.

Great 1-Person Motorcycle Tent Options

There are plenty of great motorcycle tents out there, but if you’re looking for a good 1-person motorcycle tent, I’d consider the following options. If these don’t strike your fancy, then keep looking, but these are my go-to choices.

Peregrine Radama Hub 1-Person Tent

If you don’t need something built for mountaineering or extreme adventure riding, the Peregrine Radama Hub 1-Person Tent is an excellent choice. It packs down small and weighs about the same as the Alps Mountaineering tent. It’s a good and simple option.

Here are some of its features:

  • Good for 3 seasons
  • 1 door and vestibule
  • 2 DAC Pressfit 8.7mm aluminum poles
  • 75D 190T polyester, PU1500mm fly
  • 40D polyester mesh material
  • 68D 210T polyester, PU3000mm floor
  • 4 mesh pockets for gear inside the tent
  • YKK zippers
  • 89″ length by 35″ width by 39.5″ height when set up
  • 5.5″ width by 20″ length when packed
  • Weight is 4 lbs 2 oz

This tent also offers what’s called a Fast Flight Mode, which is a further stripped down version and can be easily set up. When used in this mode, you’ll only have to carry 2 lbs and 15 oz, though it’s not as good protection and lacks the comfort of the full tent.
