Flat track racing. If America had one contribution to motorsport that screams its soul, it’s the glorious ballet of sliding sideways on dirt ovals. Names like Kenny Roberts, Wayne Rainey, and Dick Mann made their names in this gritty arena. Mann, for instance, even took a British BSA to the top, winning the ’63 Grand National. And that’s where Jeff Duval, historian and bike builder at Jets Forever, enters the scene with his beautifully restored BSA A10 Super Rocket, nicknamed ‘Anaheim.’

Motorcycles – So Many Choices
The world of motorcycles is a robust one. There’s a motorcycle designed for pretty much every use out there. The companies selling bikes are trying to appeal to every area of the market from the folks who love to cruise to the racers to the adventurers.
Then there’s the custom bike scene. Geniuses, craftsmen, artists take motorcycles and turn them into rolling pieces of art.
I try to cover a little bit of it all. From the new bikes rolling off the production lines at the various motorcycle manufacturers to the littlest of custom shops and individuals tinkering around in their sheds.
Types of Motorcycles
Here are the main types of motorcycles I typically write about on this site.
- Cafe Racer
- Scrambler
- Bobber
- Sportbikes
- Electric Motorcycles
- Minibikes
- Cruisers
- Adventure Bikes
- Moped
- Scooter
Note that this isn’t an exhaustive list, and the article linked above about the different types of motorcycles will explain the full picture.
Motorcycle Brands
The fun doesn’t stop with the various types of motorcycles. There are also tons of brands that sell each type of motorcycle. I’ve written an article on the different motorcycle brands out there, and that should give you a pretty clear idea of what you’ll find.
Motorcycle Engine Size
Motorcycle type and the different brands matter a ton, but I often find myself and other riders classifying motorcycles by their engine size or displacement.
This is typically how the industry categorizes motorcycles. You’ll see a 250cc class, a 600cc class, etc. To learn more, check out my article on the various engine sizes out there in the world of motorcycles.
Motorcycles and Prices
Lastly, I want to talk about the price of motorcycles. Everyone has to work in a budget, and you can buy a nice bike for very little money, but you can also spend a ton.
Price is a big deciding factor, and I would hope you take it into account. Here are my thoughts on motorcycles and their prices.
Below are the latest articles on various motorcycles.
The Sidecar Guys Are Set to Ride Over 100 Miles in Reverse
Well, buckle up and prepare to shift into reverse – literally. Matt Bishop and Reece Gilkes, better known as The Sidecar Guys, are at it again with another wild idea to break a Guinness World Record. These three-wheeled daredevils have already circled the globe via scooter and sidecar, but now they’ve set their sights on something even crazier: driving the longest distance in reverse on a motorcycle with a sidecar.

A Malibu owner with a 911 Turbo wanted a matching BMW R90 for his weekend canyon jaunts, and naturally, he called Robert. The result? A 1974 custom BMW R90 brought back from the brink—restored, refined, and ready to ride. It is absolutely beautiful.

In the roaring skies of Top Gun, we all know Maverick’s jet—a sleek F-14 Tomcat, roaring with afterburners and leaving contrails of adrenaline. But when it comes to the ground, there’s another machine just as iconic.
Enter the motorcycle. It’s as much a part of Maverick’s character as his aviator shades and leather jacket, and it steals the scene whenever it makes an appearance. The question on everyone’s mind is: what motorcycle is in Top Gun?

Spencer Parr’s journey with the DRZ Scorpion 434 is nothing short of a full-throttle success story. Back in 2018, when we first met Spencer, he was a police investigator, fresh into the bike-building world, working out of his home garage and battling vision loss due to cancer. Fast forward to 2024, and Parr Motorcycles is now a big name in custom bike building.

Public lands—something we all cherish, right? Well, apparently not by everyone. If you’ve been paying attention to the news much, you’d know it’s more complicated than a Sunday drive. Utah’s legislature has been in a tug-of-war with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) over 14 million acres. They’ve been itching to privatize it under the guise of “states’ rights,” and now the BLM has handed them a golden opportunity with its Bears Ears National Monument management plan.

Honda’s latest NT1100 sport-tourer, a beloved gem across Europe, has been spruced up for 2025. The kicker? It’s still not coming to North America. Launched in 2022, the NT1100 has sold over 12,000 units in Europe and claimed the title of top sport-touring bike for 2023. Yet, Honda keeps its stateside fans wanting.

Ah, Terminator 2: Judgment Day—James Cameron’s magnum opus of chrome, leather, and firepower. But amidst the time-traveling cyborgs and sky-splitting action scenes, there’s a machine that steals the spotlight, just for a moment. You know the one: that steel beast Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 rides through the streets of Los Angeles like it was forged for the sole purpose of chasing destiny. The motorcycle, ladies and gentlemen, is none other than the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy—and what a choice it was.

There’s something about the middleweight segment of motorcycles that hits just right. It’s a sweet spot where power meets agility, and the latest crop of 650cc to 900cc bikes is proving that point over and over again. One standout in this crowd? Suzuki’s GSX-8R, a sportbike that shares its DNA with the GSX-8S and V-Strom 800. This machine is Suzuki’s way of saying, “Yeah, we still got it,” while adding fuel to the fire of an already thriving middleweight sportbike class, now dominated by parallel-twin engines.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig is not the kind of book you expect to find on a list of must-reads for motorheads. It’s not filled with the crackling excitement of tearing down a winding road on a vintage Triumph, nor does it offer tips on fine-tuning the carburetor on your ‘57 Chevy. No, Pirsig’s masterpiece is an entirely different beast. It’s part memoir, part philosophical treatise, and part motorcycle manual, wrapped in the serene hum of an engine at idle. And yet, for anyone who’s ever felt the pull of the open road, this book is essential reading.
