Hurricane Helene devastated much of the South, especially parts of North Carolina. Still, some areas and businesses got lucky. One of them is Dale’s Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, and now the museum is trying to do its part to help the rest of the community.
Wheels Through Time Museum Helps in a Time of Need
If you’ve got roots in western North Carolina or know someone who does, Hurricane Helene’s fury likely hit close to home. The devastation was so widespread it even grabbed international headlines. Among those in the thick of it was Dale’s Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, but if you’re wondering how the museum fared, breathe easy.
Matt Walksler and the WTT crew have been posting updates, and the news is better than expected. Despite the chaos around them, the museum dodged a bullet—no flooding inside, and all those priceless historic bikes and cars are safe.
Now, the surrounding grounds? That’s another story. Flooded, torn up, and a mess, but compared to some of their neighbors, they count themselves lucky.
The infrastructure, though, is a different beast. Roads, power, and the internet have all taken a hit. And as Walksler points out, this couldn’t come at a worse time—tourist season.
