Modular motorcycle helmets are great if you love an open-face helmet, but want more protection than they can provide.
I’m a huge fan of modulars. I know they don’t offer quite as much protection as a full-face helmet, but they give you more protection than an open-face counterpart and offer sleek style with the ability to pop the face portion of the helmet up for some fresh air.
If you’re looking for a good modular helmet, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve listed my favorite modular helmets below.
1. Schuberth C5 Helmet
We’ll kick things off with the Mack Daddy of modular helmets. The Schuberth C5 takes things to a new level. It is the latest iteration of the company’s C helmets and features an aerodynamically designed shell made of special fiberglass, multi-zone EPS, advanced ventilation, and an anti-fogging face shield. The helmet is also ready for Schuberth’s proprietary Bluetooth communicator, which is sold separately. This helmet is exceptionally well made, but you pay for it.

2. Shoei Neotec 2 Helmet
Battling right alongside the Schuberth is the Shoei Neotec 2. Some folks will prefer this helmet for the price. It offers a sleek aerodynamic shell, dual-layer EPS, a drop down sun visor, anti-fogging face shield, plenty of ventilation, and a supremely comfortable interior. This helmet has been designed to be one of the quietest on the market. It’s a fantastic helmet, but again, it’s quite expensive.

3. HJC i90 Helmet
Say hello to the affordable option that still delivers all the goods. The HJC i90 Helmet is no joke. It offers a lightweight polycarbonate shell, an aerodynamically tuned design, advanced ventilation, a comfortable interior, grooves for glasses if you wear them, an interior drop-down sun visor, a pinlock read face shield, speaker pockets and more. At just a couple of hundred dollars depending on the retailer, you’ll looking at a real bargain in the i90.

4. Scorpion EXO-AT950 Helmet
Scorpion likes to say this is a three-in-one helmet, and I can’t argue that. The Scorpoin EXO-AT950 Helmet is perhaps the most versatile on the market. It’s the modular helmet you get if you ride an adventure bike in all types of situations. It feature a polycarbonate shell, dual density EPS, an excellent ventilation system, non-fogging face shield, drop-down sun visor, a peak, anti-mocrobial interior that’s very comfy, pockets for speakers, and more. This helmet is also reasonably priced making it one of the most enticing.

5. Bell SRT Modular Helmet
Bell knows what it’s doing when it makes helmets and the SRT Modular Helmet is a clear example of this. The helmet is a real winner if you want something a step above the HJC but not quite on the price point of the Shoei or Schuberth. The helmet features a fiberglass shell, anti-bacterial interior, drop-down sun visor, Panovision face shield, speaker pockets, glasses compatibility, and more. Like I said it’s also reasonably priced, too.

Other Good Modular Helmets
The five above would be what I would buy, but there are other good modular helmets. Stick to the brands I’ve called out above and you’ll do okay if these picks don’t do it for you.
