The 3 Best 100cc Motorcycles

Honda Navi parked in an urban environment.

Are you looking for the best 100cc motorcycles and scooters on sale today? I’ve pulled together a list of the best options out there.

In America, small-displacement motorcycles, or motorcycles with engines roughly this size, have not been the super high sellers. Now though, things are beginning to change. People have come to see the value of smaller displacement motorcycles.

Below you’ll find a list of the five best small motorcycles with 100cc engines that you can buy (some are not available in the US). I took a good, long look at the options available today, and these were the best ones with around 100cc engine displacement. The Honda Navi is by far the best and the one I would recommend.

Are you interested in bikes with other-sized engines? Check out my article which looks at almost every engine size.

1. Honda Navi

Honda Navi

I’ve written about the Honda Navi in the past. I think it’s the simplest yet smartest motorcycle Honda has come out with in several years. The price point is right, it looks good, and it’s not complicated. The bike features a 109cc four-stroke engine that’s carbureted and the engine is mated to a CVT.

It’s commuter and beginner-friendly and has everything you’d want from a motorcycle in this class. It is by far the best motorcycle from a major manufacturer near 100cc that you can buy. And, it’s the only one of the bikes I list here available in the United States.

2. TVS XL100 Heavy Duty

TVS XL100 Heavy Duty

God, I love mopeds and I don’t understand why more of them aren’t around. There are plenty of vintage mopeds, but not many new ones in the U.S. However, take a look over in other parts of the world and you’ll find some beautiful bikes like this TVS XL100 Heavy Duty. TVS is one of the biggest players in the motorcycle industry, especially in India where the beautiful TVS XL100 Heavy Duty is sold.

The company has several versions of the XL100, but the Heavy Duty is my favorite. The bike is a consummate commuter, featuring a 99.7cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine that’s mated to a centrifugal wet-type clutch with a single-speed gearbox. Power gets to the rear wheel via a chain drive. The step-through design and automatic transmission make this bike a lovely ride.

3. Hero Splendor Plus

Hero Splendor Plus

If you know anything about the global motorcycle industry, then you know about Hero. However, the brand isn’t well-known in the U.S., and the company doesn’t sell bikes here. It’s a true shame because they make some seriously fantastic motorcycles. Case-in-point is the Hero Splendor Plus.

The motorcycle features classic standard motorcycle styling and riding position. It has modern technology like fuel injection but also keeps things simple with drum brakes. The engine is a single-cylinder with a displacement of 97.2cc. That engine mates up to a wet-multi-plate, four-speed constant mesh transmission. This bike is small in size but packs a pretty satisfying punch, which is why it’s so popular where it’s sold.

Are There Other 100cc Motorcycles?

Yes, but most of those you’ll find on sites like Alibaba and Amazon from questionable sellers. What I’ll say about that is that they are cheap and if you want to blow your money, then go for it. It will be a fun and silly motorcycle, but likely not a very good bike.

You’d be better off going down in displacement and buying a 50cc scooter or going up in displacement to 125cc motorcycles, of which there are several very good motorcycles.
