Small displacement bikes like 150cc motorcycles and scooters have come a long way in recent years. It used to be that bigger was better when it came to engine size, but people have gotten smart about displacement and realized that even small-displacement motorcycles and scooters can be a lot of fun and get them where they need to go.
With this in mind, I thought it best to take a closer look at the best 150cc motorcycles and scooters you can buy right now in the U.S.
Honda PCX 150
First up we have a scooter that has been killing it abroad for years now, and it hasn’t been doing too bad here in the States either. The Honda PCX is perfect for zooming around town and has enough grunt so that you can get away on a longer more fun ride on the weekend—though much interstate travel is out. The bike has a 157cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with fuel injection that will keep you right up with traffic and comfortably move you along.

Honda ADV160
If you’re looking for a scooter that is a little more rugged and can handle some light off-roading, then the Honda ADV160 (it used to be the Honda ADV150) is the scooter for you. This bike isn’t a hardcore off-roader, but it’s a great option for anyone who needs a bike for the urban jungle and good for some trails. The bike has a 149cc liquid-cooled 80-degree single-cylinder four-stroke engine with fuel injection.

Honda XR150L
If you’re looking for a dual sport machine that can go anywhere, then you need the Honda XR150L motorcycle. Somewhat of a simplistic blast from the past, this little dual sport offers efficiency, capability, and a strong but simple 149cc air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine that has a carburetor on it, something that is becoming more and more uncommon in modern bikes.

Vespa Sprint 150 S
Yes, the Vespa Sprint 150 S is an expensive scooter, but Vespas hold their value extremely well and are generally worth every penny. They’re exceptionally well-built and do everything an urban machine needs to do and then some. The Sprint 150 S is kind of the badass of the lineup for Vespa in terms of style. It features a 155cc single-cylinder engine with fuel injection to get you from point A to point B.

Genuine Scooter Company Grand Tourer 150
Genuine Scooter Company makes some of the most aesthetically pleasing scooters on the market. If you want the vintage Vespa styling but do not want to pay vintage Vespa prices, then the Genuine Scooter Company Grand Tourer 150 is for you. This bike blends fairly modern performance with classic lines and style. the bike comes with a 149cc air-cooled engine to scoot yourself around town. While not the most advanced machine out there, this new classic is a perfect way to get into vintage-looking scooters for a reasonable price.

Are There Other 150cc Motorcycles and Scooters?
Yes, there are some. However, you’re more likely to find 125cc motorcycles and scooters rather than 150cc motorcycles and scooters. Why? It’s not totally clear to me, but 125cc seems to be a good step up from 50cc scooters.
In all honesty, you’re not getting that much more power from a 150cc engine, so the difference is negligible. If you’re looking for a good small motorcycle or scooter, either classification will do just fine.
I’d suggest looking at both 125cc and 150cc bikes before you make your decision.
