KTM has unveiled the 2025 KTM 390 SMC R, a supermoto that expands its 390 lineup by combining agility, performance, and advanced technology.
The 2025 KTM 390 SMC R stands out in the supermoto segment with its blend of performance, advanced features, and affordability, making it a compelling choice for riders seeking a versatile and spirited motorcycle.
Engine and Performance
At the heart of the 390 SMC R is a 398.7cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, delivering 45 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 28.7 lb-ft of torque at 7,000 rpm. Placing it firmly in the 400cc category.
This powerplant is mated to a six-speed transmission featuring a slip/assist clutch, with an optional quick shifter available.
Chassis and Suspension
The motorcycle’s two-piece steel trellis frame, derived from the 390 Duke, has been modified with a different steering-head angle, triple clamps, and subframe mounts to accommodate the supermoto design.
Suspension duties are handled by a 43mm WP Apex fork and a WP Apex shock, both offering 9.0 inches of travel and adjustability for compression, rebound, and preload settings.
Braking and Wheels
Braking is managed by ByBre components, with a 320mm disc up front and a 240mm disc at the rear, supported by ABS technology.
The 17-inch spoked wheels are fitted with Michelin Power 6 tires, sized 110/70 at the front and 150/60 at the rear, enhancing grip and handling.
Technology and Features
The 390 SMC R offers two ride modes: Street and Sport, the latter providing a more responsive throttle.
A 4.2-inch TFT display allows riders to access features such as call management, music playback, and turn-by-turn navigation when connected to the KTM Connect App.
Pricing and Availability
With a competitive MSRP of $5,499, the 2025 KTM 390 SMC R is expected to arrive in North American dealerships in early 2025, offering an accessible option for supermoto enthusiasts.
