Eddie Mulder’s legendary 1960 Big Bear Run victory is the heartbeat of the new 2025 Royal Enfield Bear 650, a scrambler built for those who ride by instinct and aren’t afraid of grit.
Inspired by Motorcycling History, the 2025 Royal Enfield Bear 650 Is a Badass
Mulder, a 16-year-old newcomer, shocked the desert racing world by muscling his Royal Enfield 500cc Fury to victory across California’s brutal Mojave terrain. Bent handlebars, a busted shock, and a ravine tumble couldn’t shake his relentless drive.
Fast forward to today, and Royal Enfield has infused that same rebellious spirit into the Bear 650. With its 650-twin engine delivering 47 bhp and 56.5 Nm of torque, this bike has serious punch, plus a custom 2-1 exhaust for that scrambler growl.
Chunky tires, a kicked-up rear, and a competition number board are just some of the nods to classic scrambler DNA.
The Bear 650’s rugged chassis, Showa suspension, and higher ground clearance make it a versatile machine for city streets or dusty trails. Modern touches, including a Tripper Dash with Google Maps, USB-C charging, and LED lighting, ensure it’s as functional as it is fierce.
Set to hit the road at a starting MSRP of $6,849, the Bear 650 invites riders to embrace Mulder’s fearless legacy—gut and all. Check it out at Royal Enfield’s website.
