The new 2025 KTM 990 Duke R, nicknamed “The Punisher,” is a meaner, more track-ready evolution of the 990 Duke, building on its “Sniper” sibling’s precision with muscle and might. It looks like a truly fantastic motorcycle and something sportbike lovers everywhere should be excited about.
The 2025 KTM 990 Duke R Is Better Than Ever
This Duke R doesn’t just carry a bold name; it sports a black-and-white color scheme and orange frame, recalling the ferocity of the 2011-2013 Super Duke R. But it’s not all for show—this bike’s been put through the ringer, with pre-production models raced by KTM’s Chris Fillmore in MotoAmerica’s Super Hooligans series.
Power-wise, the Duke R squeezes out 130 horsepower from its 947cc LC8c Parallel-Twin, upping the stakes from the standard Duke’s 123 hp. Paired with KTM’s updated Sport ABS and Supermoto+ mode, it promises a control-oriented, adrenaline-pumping ride.
The suspension steps up, too, with a 48mm WP APEX fork that’s stiffer and fully adjustable, coupled with a revamped rear linkage for tighter handling. Brembo brakes and Michelin Power Cup 2 tires give this machine the stopping power and grip it needs to rule the road or track.
Set for early 2025, the 990 Duke R is tuned to thrill riders who live for performance. Pricing? That’s still KTM’s little secret.
