Confederate Motorcycles Becomes Combat Motors

In an effort to have the name more accurately reflect the company’s values, Confederate Motorcycles has changed its name to Combat Motors.

The company’s CEO, Ernest Lee, who I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with before, emailed me to let me know about the change.

It’s the right move by the company, and one I’m glad to see.

Confederate Motorcycles was started in the early 1990s. As unrest over police brutality and racial inequality have risen, Ernest Lee, who took control of the company only a few years ago decided it was time to make the name change.

The Decision to Change to Combat Motors

The press release explains: “Our brand needed to be something that would match the values of the company and the feeling that people get when they see our motorcycles for the first time. As long as we have motorcycles on the road, we want our brand to shine through their owners.”

The release also stated that Combat Motors stands with the people who are peacefully protesting that’s going on. “We stand with those peaceably fighting for change in the United States and are very happy to contribute an overdue but small part of that change.”

As I said above, this is the right move for the company.

Combat Motors will still support all of the motorcycles and products that were sold before under the Confederate Motorcycles name. It will also continue building all the bikes in its lineup, including the new Hellcat and Hellcat Speedster, and try expanding that lineup as it can in the future.

I’m excited to see what comes next from Combat Motors. Check out the company’s website to see all of its beautiful bikes.
