The rumor is that Yamaha has a new MotoGP V4 engine that is getting close to being ready. This would help the company’s racing team stay competitive in a field of ever-advancing engine technology. That could mean some changes for the Yamaha lineup in the future.
A MotoGP V4 Engine to Propel Yamaha Towards Championships
This new V4 engine could potentially replace the current inline four-cylinder engine.
This new engine could also be used in Yamaha’s production models, such as the R1—one of the coolest 1,000cc sportbikes, as a way to meet stricter emissions regulations.
So, as much as I love the current R1, a better version of the high-performance sportbike could be coming, and that is always good news.
It will be interesting to see how this one pans out. Yamaha is, of course, looking to the future. But there is no telling when this V4 engine will make its debut on the race track or the street.
Also, I have to note that Yamaha hasn’t even confirmed it’s working on this new engine, but considering the recent rankings of Yamaha’s MotoGP riders, I’d bet the company has something up its sleeve.
