Old Vespa scooters remain some of the coolest ways to get around on two wheels, and Valerio Boni recently rode his 1979 Vespa 50 Special a whopping 766 miles in 24 hours to set a Guinness World record.

This impressive feat happened on the Pirelli test track. Boni set the record for the farthest distance traveled on a 50cc scooter in 24 hours.

The old Vespa was fully restored in 2015, but it goes to show how impressive these machines are even decades after they were built.

Boni rode for 24 hours straight. He didn’t even stop to refuel. His team helped him fuel on the run with another bike pulling up next to him. Almost as impressive as the scooter being 45 years old, Boni is 65 years old, which makes this iron butt challenge even more amazing.

My hat is off to him. If you’re looking for a 50cc scooter of your own, check out my article on the best 50cc scooters.
