Yes, the Triumph 450 dirt bike is coming to motocross soon, but we don’t know much. I know that you’d better be gosh-darned excited about it in every way possible. This is a Godsend from the Brits.

In some ways, it’s a tough time to be a motorsport enthusiast. The once-roaring ATVs have gone silent at Dakar, and as the dust settles, there’s only one real sport ATV left in the game—Yamaha, bless ‘em, for keeping the dream alive.
But elsewhere, there’s a chill in the air. You can almost hear the whispers that some Japanese manufacturers might pack up and leave MotoGP altogether if they can’t figure out how to keep pace with the rampaging Ducati. It’s enough to make a gearhead clutch his lucky wrench a little tighter.
But let’s not lose hope just yet. There’s a silver lining in the storm clouds, and it’s coming from an unexpected direction. Enter Triumph, the British bulldog with its sights set on off-road dirt bike glory. If you’re not paying attention to what they’re doing in the dirt, you’re missing the most exciting thing to happen in motocross since someone thought to slap knobby tires on a bike.
Last year, Triumph sent shockwaves through the sport when it rolled out the TF 250-X, with none other than Ricky Carmichael—yes, the Ricky Carmichael—riding it right into the arena during the inaugural SuperMotocross final at LA Memorial Coliseum.
Fast forward to this year’s SuperMotocross World Championship Final in Las Vegas. Carmichael was back, but this time with an even bigger surprise—the all-new TF 450-RC. This Triumph 450 dirt bike is exactly what I want in the garage, and Carmichael doing the intro was fabulous.
Now, if you’re thinking he gave it a rip around the track, I hate to disappoint. No joyride this time. Instead, there were a couple of slick advertisements during the broadcast, showing Ricky putting the 450 through its paces, with a studio shot thrown in for good measure. No live-action, but hey, I’ll take it.
Triumph isn’t just dipping a toe into motocross—they’re cannonballing into the deep end.
Now, we don’t have all the specs on this 450 beast just yet, but mark your calendars for October 3rd. That’s when Triumph pulls back the curtain, and if the TF 250-X’s reception is anything to go by, the 450’s reveal might just bring the house down.
In a world where some of the legacy bike-makers are fading into the background, Triumph’s roar is a welcome sound. Keep an eye on this one, folks. It’s about to get interesting.
